Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

Writer's picture: Alixx BlackAlixx Black
post-traumatic stress disorderas defined by Merriam-Webster, means: a psychological reaction occurring after a traumatic experiencing a highly stressing event

The word ‘remember’ is a trigger

Such a small word that evokes something bigger

The sound of a car horn makes my rigid body stiffer

Because it reminds me of where I was when I pulled the trigger

The word itself is a double meaning

A disorder in itself that keeps screaming

And I’m left alone in the night to keep seeing

The sight of my attacker as he’s bleeding

Though they say that I did nothing wrong

That he would have killed me so play the ‘self-defense’ song

But taking a life to save my own

Fills my head with gunshots even when I’m alone
