MHA Poem 9: Psychopath

PSYCHOPATH

Trying to prove you are not a psychopath is even harder than trying to prove you are not mentally ill […] -Jon Ronson, “The Psychopath Test”

In this musical an angry man based off of – well – an angry man, sang the lyrics that ring most true to me:

“You call me amoral,

A dangerous disgrace,”

because when I have to explain the anti-psychotics I take

are because

I’m a psychopath.

If you try to understand the diagnosis I have

you’re going to find only the people who are very bad;

I don’t have the same broken pieces that they had

but that’s the risk of you know

I’m a psychopath.

The symptoms aren’t as easy to describe

and I really haven’t tried in a very long time.

However, I can at least tell you this…

Just because I’m a psychopath

doesn’t make me a serial killer.

It just means you’re prejudice.
