MHA Poem 6: Hopeless

Writer's picture: Alixx BlackAlixx Black

HOPELESS

A man devoid of hope and conscious of being so has ceased to belong to the future. -Albert Camus

Hope for a good outcome – it’s as easy as it sounds.

Less so when you can’t string the words together.

Hope to see the good in others – it’s not as if everyone is bad.

Less believable when everyone screws you over and leaves you in the dust.

Hope that some good luck befalls the best of us – the ones actually trying to make it.

Less likely to happen because the nice guys always finish last, though.

Hope comes and goes – it’s as good for paying the bills as the shit on my shoes.

Less wishing for a better life and more realizing it’ll never be anything more than this.
