This bonus poem is very different from others because I’m writing about two characters being symbolized as “Day” and “Night, but the emotion that is happening is the progression of Day’s anger towards Night. Day symbolizes optimism and friendship and companionship, while Night symbolizes indifference and cynicism to a fault, almost, and it doesn’t break even in the end. A lot of people can relate to this type of relationship, I expect, and so even though it is more personified than what I usually write, I’m hoping (expecting) it will be successful.
It was the Day that told the Night to shine bright in the sky,
but it was the Night that stole the secrets of the daytime.
It was the Day that helped the Night to overcome the darkness with which it looms,
but it was the Night that shamed the Day into believing that there were no rules.
It was the Day that asked the Night to find the beauty in all things as they are,
but it was the Night that made the Day see the lies on the sleeves of bleeding hearts.
It was the Day that tried to fix the Night so that they could co-exist with joy and peace,
but it was the Night that left the Day behind to shroud the souls ready to leave.
It was the Day that was fooled by the Night’s friendship and was left broken, alone,
but it was the Day that seared regret into the Night by burning just a little too bright.
