It was reported that the 18-year-old made an attempt to obtain the gun of the officer. However, the 22-year-old male reported that the altercation was initiated by the officer. The reason for the stopping of the officer was that there was a robbery and the 18- and 22-year old males matched the description of the suspects. The officer requested back-up upon seeing the two males walking. When the purported attempt to obtain the gun occurred, there were 12 shots fired in total. Six of these shots stuck the 18-year-old male. Four of them were in his chest and arms, and two of them were in his head.

RESULTS:
The officer responsible for the shooting did not get tried for the death of the 18-year-old male. A statement was released clearing him of wrongdoing and determined he acted in self-defense. There were no internal consequences within the police department in relation to the shooting, though the officer did resign without pay with no plans to hold a law enforcement job again per a personal statement through his attorney.
