2 Days Until Dinner

2 Days Until Dinner

A Dinners with Caroline Countdown

Today, I’m going to do all of my plugs at the bottom of the post. I wanted to dive right into the question for today’s hype post. So, without further adieu, today’s Q/A about Dinners with Caroline!

Q) Who are your characters and what makes them relatable to readers?

Answer:

The two main characters of this story are a young man, Santiago Riviera, and a young woman, Caroline Wilson. As I’ve mentioned in past posts, Santiago and Caroline are college students, both of whom have suffered the loss of a loved one.

I don’t want to reveal too much about them, but there are some things that I can divulge ahead of the first post. Firstly, Santiago and Caroline come from different financial backgrounds and have different personalities. In fact, in the beginning, the only thing that they’ll have in common is that they’re both grieving. That being said, they have a youthfully carefree connection from the beginning – not unlike when you meet someone at a school function because you’re in the same place at the same time and need to socialize for sanity. Even adults can relate to this in some way – company parties, amirite?

The things that make them relatable will be different, due to the differences in their lives, but I think one common thing that they will share with readers is their powerful emotions (or, sometimes, lack thereof). From being aloof to being boisterous, these two will behave in familiar ways to the readers. Sometimes that will be in the form of being painfully honest to deflecting confrontations like a total boss, and other times it’s going to be in the small things, such as pretending to check text messages and needing someone to share in the silence.

Santiago and Caroline will be painfully real, hopefully to the point that they will be indistinguishable from the real friends and family members that you see every day. And that’s how I want you to see them, honestly, as people. I want them to be your friends, your family, your classmates – I want you to love them as much as I love them already.

Anything crafted with love is powerful, as long as Harry Potter hasn’t lied to me at least.

Only two more days left!
